"THE PERSISTENCE OF A DREAM"
Charikot Panorama Resort was designed, in collaboration with a Swiss architect, and built in the late Nineties by Top Thapa (Nepali) and his late wife Judith Thapa-Maag (Swiss). It was officially opened on the 1st of January, 2000. There are 7-8 regular staff members, all from the local communities around and trained by the Resort.
Great care was taken to use local materials and to blending the buildings with the local style, be it in stone masonry or with the white washed bungalows. We grow most of our vegetables including salads ourselves. To work and to cook in hygienic conditions is one of our main goals.
The 20 rooms are spread out in all corners of the resort.
16 rooms are in 4 different bungalows, 8 have showers, 8 have bathtubs.
4 smaller rooms with showers sit above our new studio rooms with a living room. The rooms at the upper level have wooden flooring and the lower level rooms are provided with tile flooring. All rooms have attached bathrooms. Hot water comes from solar panels with an electric boiler as back up on colder days.

Our Restaurant consists of two wings. On one side we have a beautiful fireplace where our guests are able to relax away from the cold night air. We focus as much as possible in using locally produced ingredients in our dishes. We try very much to minimize our footprint on the environment, growing much of our own produce such as potatoes, corn, a wide range of vegetables such as salads, radish and tomatoes. We serve our dishes as fresh as possible.
The Chalet is an all wooden construction giving a warm and cosy atmosphere perfect for some quietness whether it be with a book, some work or just enjoying the panoramic views of the Himalayas in comfort.
The Chalet can also be booked for smaller meetings ( 10-12) or private events
We have an assortment of vehicles and we also have a network of contacts which allows us to help you find the best transport at the best price.
There is always the option of taking the local bus up as well.
THINGS TO DO
"It is the most wonderful place to gather good thoughts and relax the body and soul.
The rooms are simply but very comfortably furnished, they are spotlessly clean and have glorious views of the Himalayas!!!"
